Astro Bot might be the best game ever released on the Playstation 5. It is insanely fun and has such good vibes. You will smile and laugh the entirety of your play through and leave wanting even more. This game has joined some legendary Nintendo titles on the list of best 3D platformers of all-time.

A Charming Time
Astro Bot is many things, but the best word to describe it may be charming. That is not a word I see most video games described as. Team Asobi was able to capture the perfect mixture of nostalgia, fun, intensity, and joy and bundle it all up together.
The result is a game that will transport you back into your childhood and remind you of all the right reasons you fell in love with video games, cartoons, and movies.
The art package is incredibly detailed and you will quite literally want to die for your little Astro Bot. He is the perfect combination of cute, silly, and bad ass.
The music is also top tier. The familiar Astro Bot theme is present throughout, but each level feels unique and much of that is down to the score. The music feels like another character in the game and greatly adds to the intensity, humor, and fun of each moment.
Truly Next-Gen
The gaming executives at Playstation, XBox, and Nintendo love to through around the phrase “next-gen” whenever they talk about their new titles. The reality of modern gaming, however, is most studios are not taking advantage of the actual power within in the newest consoles.
The only games that I have been actually able to pinpoint as truly “next-gen” prior to Astro Bot were Red Dead Redemption 2, Forza Horizon 5, God of War: Ragnarok, and Starfield. That is an incredibly short list given the number of games that come out each and every year.
Astro Bot, to my pleasant surprise, may be even more “next-gen” than all of those amazing games I just listed above. That is saying something!
Astro Bot isn’t just a video game... It is a genuine visceral experience because it takes full advantage of Playstation’s Dualshock 5 controller. You feel Astro Bot’s jumps, footsteps, hits, and deaths come directly through the screen and into your hand. Additionally, the ability to physically move the controller and actually impact your movements in each level is so fun. It brought me back to the Nintendo Wii days, which is my absolute favorite console of all time!
Final Thoughts
Astro Bot is one of the best 3B platformers of all time and will likely go down as the best Playstation game of the PS5 era. Its beautiful artwork, music, and expertly crafted levels are the perfect balance of fun, silly, and challenging. This is a must play for everyone of all ages!
